Seriously. They are these Mango Yogurt gummy candies. I mean, that's weird, right? Mango -- yes. Yogurt -- yes. Together? Sure, but in gummy candy form? On paper that seems like an abomination dreamed up in the pits of hell. Yet they're addictive lil' F**kers. And I can't stop eating them. There they are. Look at them. Taunting me even now.
I have stuff to do. I have business to attend to. Also, I need to eat a proper lunch. Yet I have finished off one bag (that's just today) and there is one more unopened bag left. I'll probably finish it. I will finish it. I finished it. The lesson here is discipline. Simple as that. If you can master the art of discipline you can accomplish your dreams and their more important relative -- your goals. As I sit here staring at these mango candies, I have now have a clear sense of what is holding me back today, tomorrow, and in my career. Discipline. Can you put down that bag of candy? Can you put aside the distractions? Can you look at your to-do list and get it done, not let it turn into wallpaper that your eye just pushes back into the wall? It's not easy and, damn, those candies taste great, but this is what will make or break -- well -- you. Any goal -- professional, personal, relationships -- is built on discipline. You can't write from inspiration every time. You can't follow a work out with a cheeseburger. (I've done it. Will do it again.) You can't want your relationships to grow on their own. You have to put in the work, even when you don't want to. You have to look at those little distractions, those giant obstacles, those lil' gummie candies, and say, "No. I've got bigger plans." Life lessons from candy. Now that's tasty.
