Welcome to the TNF PPP for September 2018. That’s the Patreon Patron Profile to you and me. This is where I get to shine a spotlight on the people that support my work. Each month we sit down with a Napzok Files patron and get to know them. This one is pretty special for me because this month’s Patreon Patron Profile is on my cousin Michelle Cox!
Not only is Michelle and literal supporter of my work, she’s been in my corner encouraging me for years. I’ve been blessed to get to know her awesome husband Randy and uber hip daughters Maggie and Madeline over the last few years. In fact, some of my favorite moments each year are when I get to catch up with them in Las Vegas while I’m out there for the Cauliflower Alley Club Reunion and one of my favorite memories was helping the girls get to their FIRST comic convention during 2016’s Wizard World Las Vegas show where they dressed up as Kylo Ren and Rey. Made me feel like I was doing something right in this world! I’ve mentioned Michelle before on this very website because I “adopted” the engineering class she teaches at Garehime Elementary in Las Vegas. You can help Michelle get the supplies she needs to teach this class by going to their store: https://www.engineeringkids.net/store.html Every purchase of a custom made 3D design directly helps the class. Michelle works hard raising a family with her husband Randy and inspiring an entire class of young minds, so I was thrilled that she was kind enough to take some time to answer these questions and let a little spotlight shine on her. 1 - Who ARE you and where you located in this world? My name is Michelle Cox from Las Vegas, NV 2 - How long have you been listening to The Napzok Files? I've been listening for about 2 years 3 - What are some of your favorite “things?“(books, shows, movies, hobbies) I love Harry Potter, The Office, The Fabulous Mrs. Maisel, Mad Men, and The West Wing. 4 - What is one life goal you are working toward?I am working toward finishing my masters degree in education. I will start my PhD program in 2019. I want to teach science someday. 5 - What is something in your life that you’re really proud? I am most proud of my 2 girls. They are both amazing souls. 6 - When you’re feeling down, what are some things you do to turn yourself around? When I am feeling down I like to spend time with my girls and husband. When work is crazy, I like to pull away with them and hang out all day. 7 - Who are some of your biggest influences in your life and/ or career? I love Ron Clark. He is an amazing teacher. I also have been influenced by many teachers that I work with. I love teachers with passion 8 - When was the last time you ate food from a convenience store and what was it? Does beer count as food? Other than that...maybe some chips about a year ago 9 - What is one cool fact about yourself that you’ve never revealed publicly until NOW? I am a U2 fanatic. I followed them around for awhile. 10 - Shine on a light on your own work or the work of someone you admire… I teach 3rd grade. In my spare time I volunteer to teach robotics, girls engineering, and 3D printing. You can even follow the class on Twitter: https://twitter.com/Vegas3DKids Thanks, Michelle. We appreciate your support at The Napzok Files and know that you are doing great work out in Las Vegas teaching the engineers of tomorrow! All of you can go to https://www.engineeringkids.net/ for more info! -- Ken Napzok, September 2018

It's time for this month's Patreon Patron Profile! A spotlight on the people that are the pillars of The Napzok Files.
This month we’re taking a moment to chat with Tim van Nuland. A relatively recent listener of The Napzok Files, Tim has become a vital cog in the building of the community around the show and my brand. When I was thinking of starting the Napzok Files Discord Server, I took a look around the Discord world and was overwhelmed by what I found. Good chance I would have backed away and never launched it if not for Tim. He reached and offered to coach me through it. The server was launched shortly thereafter and a wonderful community built from voices from all over the world has been growing ever since. So let’s meet Tim... 1 - Who ARE you and where you located in this world? I am Tim van Nuland from Erp, The Netherlands 2 - How long have you been listening to The Napzok Files? I started listening regularly in 2017 when The Napzok Files Patreon started. 3 - What are some of your favorite “things?“(books, shows, movies, hobbies) I am a huge fan of the fantasy genre. The franchises I love the most are Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. I grew up with HP and LOTR, read all the books, and watched all the movies. Star Wars came later in life when I was around 16. It instantly hooked me because it had the same kind of story elements the other two had. Chosen one, dark lords, magic and swords etc. I still re-read the books and rewatch all the movies on a regular basis and looking forward to the new fantastic beasts movie. The last few years I've been thoroughly enjoying several TV shows. My friends might say I am addicted to them. Here some shows that I love 24, Game Of Thrones, The Americans, Mad Men, Friends, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, GLOW and Halt and Catch Fire just to name a few. Music is also a big part of my life, most of my day I am listening to music. I have several reasons for this, but one important reasons is that I have tinnitus. I really connected to the movie Baby Driver. For the longest time I carried a iPod classic with me, like the main character of the movie. I am very picky when it comes to music, I don't listen to the mainstream music of today. The genres I listen to the most are rock and heavy metal and all of the sub genres in between. Also movie soundtracks are a big thing in my life. I prefer older music from the late 60's 70's and 80's bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Doors, CCR, Bruce Springsteen, Dire Straits, Metallica, Megadeth and Black Sabbath are my favorites. I also listen to more recent bands like Alter Bridge, Tremonti, Greta van Fleet, Nightwish, Trivium, Slipnot and Volbeat. One of the things I love the most is gaming, it's what I studied for. To become a 3D artist. I love lots of games and especially fantasy rpg's one of my favorite games is the Witcher trilogy, World of Warcraft and the first Dragon Age and rts's like Starcraft, Warcraft, and Battle for Middle Earth. I recently bought a Nintendo Switch so I can't wait to play all sorts of games on that console. I grew up watching football (soccer) with my family. My father had season tickets at PSV the club. My brother and I also support. He took us from time to time to see matches and cheer for the team. Since 2010 me and my brother also have season tickets and enjoy going to games with my father. Enjoying championships three national championships in the last 4 years. 4 - What is one life goal you are working toward? I am not working in the game industry at the moment, but I am still working at my 3D skills at another job and one day want to become an environment artist at a game studio. 5 - What is something in your life that you’re really proud? I like to do projects at work that challenge me. Recently I had suggested another method of animation to a client of mine. I had suggested to make a 360 degree animation for youtube. I had never done this kind of animation before, I knew it was possible but didn't know how. During the project I had to figure out how I would animate such a animation. After a few stressful days and a handful of different renders it finally worked the way I had envisioned and the client was satisfied. In the future I want to this more often to challenge myself at work. 6 - When you’re feeling down, what are some things you do to turn yourself around? This doesn't happen much but whenever I feel down I just listen to music and don't thing about anything else. I just concentrate on the music. The other thing I'd like to do is watch a episodes of a TV series I am watching at the moment and just dive into it. 7 - Who are some of your biggest influences in your life and/ or career? The biggest influence on my life are definitely my parents. They taught me to really enjoy life and how to discipline myself. They were really a big help when i was looking for work a year and a half ago. And overall they just support me through everything which is pretty nice to have. There are several people of a studio that helped me learn most of what I apply at work today. I was an intern at a 3D render studio and they learned me all the tricks and tips and all the tools and different programs that I needed to know to start working in the business of 3D rendering and modeling. I always say I learned more at the studio for 6 months than at school for 4 years. 8 - When was the last time you ate food from a convenience store and what was it? Probably last week. I ate a frikandelbroodje. It's something that only exists in the Netherlands and maybe Belgium. A frikandel is a traditional Dutch snack, a sort of minced-meat hot dog. Just look it up on google if you want to know what it looks like. I can tell you one thing it is damn delicious. 9 - What is one cool fact about yourself that you’ve never revealed publicly until NOW? I am working on a fantasy world. The map is almost finished and I am currently working on low poly versions of some cities. I have written some backstory to the world, races, cities and areas. I don't know what I am gonna do with it at the moment it is just a personal passion project I work on from time to time. 10 - Shine on a light on your own work or the work of someone you admire… I post most of 3D rendering of my work and personal stuff on my portfolio website. I update whenever I have made some new stuff. https://timvannuland.wixsite.com/3d-portfolio That's the Patreon Patron Profile for August! Take a moment to check out Tim’s work by going to his website! We here at The Napzok Files appreciate Tim’s support and hope you enjoyed spending some time with a fellow listener. I’ll never forget the last conversation I had with Jon Schnepp.
The sun shining down on a hot Los Angeles day as we ran into each other in a dusty alley behind the Collider Video studios. We did something that is kind of rare in this business and, unfortunately, the normal course of our time here -- we stopped and talked to each other. You work with people for so long they just become part of your routine. “Hey, Jon.” “What’s up, Ken?” And that might be it. You both move on with your days always believing in “next time” or “when I get back.” We are the center of our radar screens and everyone else is a blip that flies through. But not that day. Jon and I stood under the sun and caught up. We got onto the subject of the business we’re in and I moaned about my struggles with recent changes in my career. Jon had a wonderful and varied career. There are projects that will forever be linked to his name. He had success. But he also had struggles. He and his wonderful partner in life and business Holly Payne had to fight and scrape to get projects made. It was never easy. And somewhere along the way his particularly brand of talking about the things he loved connected with so many people. He is one of the reasons the media discussion world even exists. In the early days of it he brought, one, a credibility to it, but more importantly, a personality that transcended any subject matter. Knowledge, passion, and a distinct personality -- a blueprint for success. So when Jon took the moment to talk to me about my career. I listened. You should as well. Jon powerfully preached to me the importance of accepting your unique voice. Accepting that you bring value to the conversation, the game, and building on that. He could have gone back to several of the jobs and corners of his career at any point, but would he have been happy? Probably not. Jon told me how much he loved what had sprung up out of just him being himself. The Sweaties Uniting around him, with him, and beside him was something powerful and not something he took lightly. And on this day… he looked me directly in the eyes and passionately told me that I had to accept what value I had. It’s a powerful message and one that is not easy for a lot of us. No matter what you do or who you are it is sometimes the harsh truth that we can’t look ourselves in the mirror and say, “I have value.” Jon Schnepp was a wonderful, warm, and defiantly unique person. He was larger than life, the center of Collider Video’s soul, a leader, a rebel, and all those appropriate descriptions. But, above all that, he was real. Honest and real. When he spoke, you listened. And on that day, in what would be the last time I spoke to him, Jon told the truth. “You have value.” Thanks, Schnepp. I remain forever sweaty. It's time for this month's Patreon Patron Profile! A spotlight on the people that are the pillars of The Napzok Files.
This month we're sitting down with Khai Thach. Khai has been an active member of The Napzok Files and ForceCenter communities and always brings a fresh, heartfelt perspective to Discord conversations, Q & A's, and more! Let's meet Khai. 1 - Who ARE you and where you located in this world? Hello, there! I’m Khai Thach and I live in Orange County, California. For those unfamiliar with the OC, it’s about 30 miles south of Los Angeles and it's where Disneyland is located. I have been here for 7 years. Born and raised in Utah. 2 - How long have you been listening to The Napzok Files? I jumped in during the hiatus or shortly thereafter. It feels like it’s been longer, once I got hooked I went back and listened to lot of past shows. 3 - What are some of your favorite “things?“(books, shows, movies, hobbies) My big 3 fandoms are Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings. Star Wars is my biggest passion, by far. In general, I love all forms of entertainment, whether it be movies, television, theater or other live performances. If someone is putting on a show, I’ll watch it! I’m a big gym rat, I spend a lot of time exercising. I love sports and played many since I was a kid. American football is top of that list. I like paintball too and try to get out and play whenever I can. 4 - What is one life goal you are working toward? I am an actor and my goal is to work at it full-time. There are more specific things that I want to accomplish and projects I want to work on in this realm, but it all branches out from a successful acting career. 5 - What is something in your life that you’re really proud? I’m proud of who I am. This goes for everyone, but nobody else has exactly what I have. The combination of my culture, my heritage, my beliefs and all that I’ve experienced in my life. I take pride that I represent the different communities in everything I do. And in my work, I can create something from a unique perspective from that base. As far as my career goes, I’m proud of every little thing I’ve done. I’m still far away from what many consider the “top” of the industry, but it’s a tough business and I’m proud that I have even made it this far. 6 - When you’re feeling down, what are some things you do to turn yourself around? I like to immerse myself in other worlds. I watch movies like Star Wars and LOTR because they are so different from our regular lives. It gives me a chance to escape, but it also drives me and sparks my imagination. That’s why I love entertainment so much, it can inspire people to accomplish amazing things. Exercise is also a huge help for me. When I feel physically fit and healthy, I feel much better mentally as well. It's a daily reset button. 7 - Who are some of your biggest influences in your life and/ or career? Of course, George Lucas and everything he’s created in the Star Wars universe. As a kid, I dreamed of being in the NFL and my hero was Steve Young. The way he lived his life on and off the field gave me a lot of direction. My entertainment influence as a teenager was Conan O’Brien. I grew up on The Simpsons and I later learned a lot of my favorite episodes came from him. I stayed up late to watch his show almost every night. I like to say that’s why I did poorly in school and became an actor instead of an engineer. There is something about Conan’s comedy that really sticks with me. Tina Fey is also someone from the comedy world I really connect with. It’s strange, because I don’t consider myself a comedic actor, but those two have had a great influence on me. If you ask me which actor’s career I see myself following, I would say Tom Cruise. He plays the type of roles I want to play. And we're both short, so that gives me hope. Lately, I’ve really admired Dwayne Johnson. His work ethic and outlook on life are traits I try to follow. Famous people aside, my dad has been the biggest influence on me. Long story short, my parents are first generation immigrants and he literally put our family on his back to escape Vietnam. His story has affected my life in so many ways and I try to honor it as best I can. 8 - When was the last time you ate food from a convenience store and what was it? About a month ago, I tried the pepperoni pizza from 7-Eleven. That’s what happens when you hang out around The Napzok Files for a while. I enjoyed it quite a bit! 9 - What is one cool fact about yourself that you’ve never revealed publicly until NOW? I sang The Rainbow Connection with Kermit the Frog on stage once. I got pulled from the audience and because that song is before my time, he was surprised I could sing along. Honestly, I only knew the lyrics because of a Me First and the Gimme Gimmes’ cover. It happened a long time ago, before the rise of social media. So, I don’t think I’ve ever shared that! Otherwise, I’m a pretty open book and I’ve gotten used to exposing a lot about myself publicly. 10 - Shine on a light on your own work or the work of someone you admire I want everyone to check out comedian Zara Khan on Facebook and Instagram @mentallymuslim. Not only is she a funny person, she does incredible work advocating for mental illness. I met Zara when helping with the production of a Ted X Talk she gave about her experiences living with schizoaffective disorder. Her story is powerful and the message can help a lot of people. Also, she’s always doing stand-up shows so you can see if there is one near you. If you want to keep up with me I’m @khaivien on Twitter and Instagram and my website is khaivien.com That's the Patreon Patron Profile for July! Take a moment to check out Khai's work and his link to Zara's Ted X Talk! We here at The Napzok Files appreciate Khai's support and hope you enjoyed spending some time with a fellow listener. Welcome to the first ever Patreon Patron Profile! Here I will be putting the spotlight on the people that make up the pillars of my shows.
First up is Erin Parisien. Erin is a great writer and a long time listener. In fact, as you’ll soon learn, our paths have crossed. Erin wrote for the ole’ Schmoes Know website and has been out to Los Angeles to hang with the crew. She also has a little something to do with a certain movie trivia show many of you watch. Let’s find out more about her as we turn the bright spotlight on Erin: 1 - Who ARE you and where you located in this world? I am Erin Parisien and I am located in Vancouver, BC Canada. 2 - How long have you been listening to The Napzok Files? Since the beginning… back in 2013. I found the podcast when I followed Mark Ellis and Kristian Harloff from AMC Movie Talk to The Schmoes Know Show, where I discovered all of the awesome people associated with the brand over there. I began writing for Schmoesknow.com in the summer of 2014 and the rest, as they say is history. Currently, I write questions for the Movie Trivia Schmoedown. 3 - What are some of your favorite “things?“(books, shows, movies, hobbies) Oh, goodness. Where do I start? I’m a huge movie fan, and often go to upwards of sixty movies a year, both blockbusters and indies, alike. My movie-loving heart belongs to Lord Of The Rings, however. I have been known to take a weekend, usually once a year, and marathon the extended editions. And yes, I sob like a baby from the Ride of The Rohirrim right through the final epilogue. I can’t even think about ‘Into The West’ without bursting into tears. While there is plenty of TV that I enjoy, I will now and forever be a Browncoat. I am still bitter, all these years later that Fox had the audacity to cancel Firefly after only a handful of episodes. It is my all-time favorite television program. Fun fact, I actually had to re-buy the show on DVD because I actually wore the first set of DVD's out (they would no longer play), I watched it so many times. Another of my passions is theatre, although I haven’t actually acted since high school. I adore live theatre and go to as many shows in the city as I can. I had the privilege of seeing my very first Broadway production last summer (Charlie And The Chocolate Factory with Christian Borle), which completely hooked me. On my most recent trip to the Big Apple, I attended 8 Broadway productions in 7 days (including both parts of Harry Potter and The Cursed Child…which was amazing!), because that’s how I roll! :P And finally, we get to the thing that I love the most, which is books. While I adore the written word in all its forms, I am most drawn to fiction. I love high fantasy, including A Song Of Ice And Fire (and no, I still haven’t watched the show…) and anything written by Mark Lawrence. That man writes an anti-hero like no one else. But my true love, will always be romance. And I promise, it is not what you think it is and has evolved so much since the bodice rippers of the 70s and 80s. I could do a whole episode of Life Ranked on why romance novels are amazing. 😊 #ImJustSaying Erin forgot to list some her favorite music, so she added this: I didn't put music! That's mainly because to me music isn't a hobby or anything like that. To me, music just is. There is no such thing as silence in my house. There is always music. I am one of these people who still carries around an MP3 player with them, because music does not belong on a phone. I like what I like, regardless of what's popular, although you can usually always get my attention with an acoustic guitar, a fiddle or a banjo. And I have never met a showtune I didn't like. But I would imagine you guessed that already. :) 4 - What is one life goal you are working toward? Becoming a traditionally published author. Although to take it one step further, to make a living writing. 5 - What is something in your life that you’re really proud? Probably my work as a writer. Since I started doing this seriously in 2013, I have completed four full-length novels to date (75,000-90,000 words each) and have worked really hard trying to make them the best they can be, both through edits and rewrites and by work-shopping with some of the best writers and teachers in the business. I am also really proud of the work that I did with Schmoesknow.com. It was my first real, professional writing gig, and I will be forever grateful to Mark Reilly for giving me the opportunity. For having faith in me and my work and also for letting me spread my wings and giving me carte blanche to voice my opinion on various topics that were and are near and dear to me. My work is still up on the site if anyone is interested, including a trilogy of articles about the role women play in the film industry that I'm especially proud of. (schmoesknow.com/is-it-really-only-about-how-well-her-boobs-fit-in-her-suit-examining-women-in-the-superhero-genre/26457) 6 - When you’re feeling down, what are some things you do to turn yourself around? Thankfully, this doesn’t happen to me often, so I know that in this regard, I am blessed. When I am feeling blue, usually popping in a favorite funny movie will do the trick. Some of my go-to flicks are The Proposal, Spy, The Wedding Singer, or basically anything from my childhood… and now I realize this is totally going to age me, but what can you do?... The Goonies, Adventures In Babysitting, The Princess Bride, The Breakfast Club… and my all-time favorite, Coming To America. And then, if all else fails, a good cry usually does the trick to get me back on track. 7 - Who are some of your biggest influences in your life and/ or career? Who-boy… the majority of my influences when it comes to writing are romance authors, since I have been reading romance since I was a teenager. People like Sherrilyn Kenyon, Jackie Ashenden and Heather Graham have really influenced me and inspired my work and there are facets of their work that I am still in awe of. I also love following Chuck Wendig and Delilah Dawson on social media, because they’re awesome. In regards to my other writing work, I really admire people like Amy Nicholson, Simon Thompson, Josh Dickey, Andrew Dyce, Steve Weintruab and Amirose Eisenbach. And I still maintain, I want to be Alicia Malone when I grow up! 😊 8 - When was the last time you ate food from a convenience store and what was it? Oooh, I’m honestly not sure. I want to say when I was in NYC last month, but that’s sort of cheating, because it wasn’t really a convenience store. It was convenient, however and it was pizza. If we’re talking convenience store, convenience store, and we’re talking “actual food” and not a bag of chips or a bunch of candy, then it would have to be… oh, geez, when I was a teenager. I grew up in a very small town, and when they put in a 7-11, it was a huge deal. We used to do the nachos with “cheese” and chili. It was awesome. 9 - What is one cool fact about yourself that you’ve never revealed publicly until NOW? Hmmm… I write erotica and erotic romance under a pen name (which I am not sharing) and I am going to self-publish some of the books at the beginning of next year (if everything goes to plan!) 10 - Shine on a light on your own work or the work of someone you admire… These days I seem to be all over the web, doing a little bit here and a little bit there. You can find my novel writing stuff at my website erinparisien.com (it’s very pretty, but pretty static while I work towards my publishing goals) and my blog at butletmetellyouwhy.wordpress.com where I ramble about this, that and everything… although not as often as I should. But I’m working on it. 😊 Thanks, Erin! So there you have it. Take a moment to check out Erin's work. We here at The Napzok Files appreciate Erin's support and hope you enjoyed spending some time with a fellow listener. Hello, Friends!
I'm very happy to officially announce that I am adopting an elementary school class! Yep, the entire class. Teacher as well. Taking them all home to live in a giant shoe. Kidding! ( * hides the keys to a large shoe * ) So, here's the scoop. As of this post I am officially sponsoring The Engineering Kids of Garehime Elementary school in Las Vegas, Nevada. As their teacher describes them, The Engineering Kids are an amazing group of third grade students that work and design in 3D. They currently have three 3D printers in their classroom and through the class the students create their own projects. Those projects are important to the school itself as Garehime Elementary is a model city. Each class helps build and support this teaching city. Every class operates as a business or governmental agency in this city and as you can see in this NEWS CLIP it's a fascinating style of learning. Where was this kind of school when I wasting away collecting Garbage Pail Kids cards? Cool stuff, let's help! HOW THIS CAME TO BE? Great question? Did I randomly wake up and decide to help out a group of students learning to be the engineers that help design our future? Mmmm... kinda! However, the real connection, in the spirit of full disclosure, is that the teacher of this class is the wonderful Michelle Cox and she is my cousin. After a long, distinguished, and high ranking career in the food and drink service industry, this mother of two bright girls focused on an inspiring career change. She went into teaching and found herself at the head of this class. Upon learning of the full scope of what she is working to accomplish with this class, I was moved. She's helping to build the future through the exciting world of engineering and science. That's a cause I wanted to get behind. HOW TO HELP? As many know, one of the great struggles of schools and teachers in the United States of America is the simple act of acquiring basic supplies for classes. Particularly for specialized class such as Mrs Cox' Engineering Kids class! Therefore donations of supplies and funds are a key and needed lifeblood to classrooms. Though this school year is ending, Michelle is continuing to do important work in advance of next year's class. This is includes volunteering to lead after school 3D design clubs and an engineering club for girls focused on developing future female engineers. The Engineering Kids have their own website: www.engineeringkids.net/ From there you can send them supplies directly through an Amazon Wishlist. You can donate directly to the cause of trying to get Chrome Books for next year's class at DonorsChose.org. BUT THERE IS MORE! Throughout the school year, Michelle and I will be highlighting student-designed 3D projects via my social media accounts and this blog. I'll be posting pictures of the projects and you will even be able to purchase some of these projects to help raise even more funds for the Engineering Kids. By highlighting their own great work, our hope is that even more excitement for engineering, math, science, and education will bubble up in the students! I hope you'll join me in helping to build up a small corner of our future through the power of engaging education. -- Ken Napzok, May 2018 Seriously. They are these Mango Yogurt gummy candies. I mean, that's weird, right? Mango -- yes. Yogurt -- yes. Together? Sure, but in gummy candy form? On paper that seems like an abomination dreamed up in the pits of hell. Yet they're addictive lil' F**kers. And I can't stop eating them. There they are. Look at them. Taunting me even now.
I have stuff to do. I have business to attend to. Also, I need to eat a proper lunch. Yet I have finished off one bag (that's just today) and there is one more unopened bag left. I'll probably finish it. I will finish it. I finished it. The lesson here is discipline. Simple as that. If you can master the art of discipline you can accomplish your dreams and their more important relative -- your goals. As I sit here staring at these mango candies, I have now have a clear sense of what is holding me back today, tomorrow, and in my career. Discipline. Can you put down that bag of candy? Can you put aside the distractions? Can you look at your to-do list and get it done, not let it turn into wallpaper that your eye just pushes back into the wall? It's not easy and, damn, those candies taste great, but this is what will make or break -- well -- you. Any goal -- professional, personal, relationships -- is built on discipline. You can't write from inspiration every time. You can't follow a work out with a cheeseburger. (I've done it. Will do it again.) You can't want your relationships to grow on their own. You have to put in the work, even when you don't want to. You have to look at those little distractions, those giant obstacles, those lil' gummie candies, and say, "No. I've got bigger plans." Life lessons from candy. Now that's tasty. There was a time when the blog ruled the world. It was the THING to do if you were an upward mobile creative ready to break down the walls of the old standards of entertainment. No publishers. No agents. No editers. I mean, editors. It was you, your self-centered thoughts, and a publish button.
Ah, the mid-2000s. A true golden age of blogging... that I missed. I had one! Oh, don't fret, I was cool. Ha. Come on. I totally had one. I signed up for BlogPress... or WordZone... or something. I learned to insert pictures and basic HTML. (Though I feel I really learned that during the heyday of using a Commodore 64 in the 1980s. Load: C: Prompt: Play my game please.) And I blogged. Like, you know, once every two months. Kinda. Sometimes less. I wrote a lot of posts on My Space. Now THAT was the height of social media. So, yeah, I missed the craze. I never found my rhythm. My mind drifted to other fruitless endeavors. But it's never too late... Welcome to the Ken Napzok blog. A division of The Napzok Files podcast feed. |
